Detroit. I'm married to Steven McKay (So now I'm Aletha McKay). We

learned some wonderful songs which he had written and that was my first time
actually getting to work with a professional gospel artist.
I am still involved with music ministry. I have my own

instruments. God is just so good to me and He is blessing me to really
polish my ministry.

guidance/direction. The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord. I am also curently on the National Dean's List for gifted
students selected by their graduate university deans (2003-current) (Governors
State University). The good thing about this astonishing and blessed
accomplishment is that only 1/2 of 1% of our nations college students
receive this award. This is based on a combination of the type of position
held by an employer, as well as the academic accomplishment achieved by
young individuals for their age. Thanks to God and his divine love I
was inducted in this National Deans Society in May of 2003.

Favorite Song - "I Really Love You" (although
"whatever you need is in the HOUSE" holds a special place in my heart)
Favorite Memory - My favorite memory is two-fold. My freshman year, I had gotten
saved JUST before coming to college and decided to give singing a try.
One Tuesday night after having been in the choir for a couple of
months, I was seated between Aletha Flynn, my freshman roommate (and one cool
chick), and Erica (the one with the hat and skirt). Pastor Williams was
preparing to teach a song and he went into a speil about what happened
to Jesus before He was crucified. Being newly saved, I didn't know all
the details and as he gave that picture of the man who was beaten, spit
on, mocked, etc. for ME, I couldn't fight back the tears. I was trying
to be super hard, but in a matter of seconds, me and my two homegirls
were bawling and that picture stuck with me. Anytime I'm about to do
something that I KNOW is contrary to His will, that picture pops up and I
simply ask myself, "Is it worth it?" Secondly, I remember my first
tour. Y'all remember Texas '99 with the T-Shirts? The fish fry? That weird game? The Waffle House? Six Flags in the rain? Wanting to see
T.D. Jakes? I ain't never eating at Denny's again! And it wasn't the
mushrooms! Remember New Orleans and the Jesusified Purple Rain song? The
bullet-proof concierge in D.C.? Shouting for the first time? Brian's
church where the presence of God was so thick you could taste it? Cream
and black? Yolanda Adams? The CANTON SPIRITUALS and that chocolate they
were cooking? Remember the words to that song that you would never get
right? Can you feel the white light? Did you get lost on your way to
Daniel's party, too? How many times did we eat at IHOP? OOOOOOhhh
Remember Texas IHOP? Carpooling! Beta Epsilon Nu Psi Kappa Aiight! Homecoming
'98 singing Total Praise on those little bitty pieces of wanna-be
steps. Ddin't somebody fall through the wall in King Chapel? I could go on
and on, but it was my last year in the choir and I remember my thoughts
going on and on and again, tears formed in my eyes because my journey was soon to end. I miss you, New Life. You were the catalyst
through which my spiritual birthing took place. :-)
I live in Baltimore now. I am a Reading Teacher at an inner city
middle School (Pimlico, for those of you who know Baltimore). I am in
the Drama Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church (shots out to the
Callllllllllllllll!) I am attending Johns Hopkins University where I'll receive
a Master's in Teaching in May 2004. God took me through quite a bit to
show me specifically what He desires of me. Right now, I have two
offers to put out a DVD where I will be featured reading poetry. God is
about to blow the top off Baltimore (and the world)and He's using something
that He found in the gutters of Atlanta to do it. That's what I do. I
coached a little baseball, taught a little math, sang a few songs, did a
little dance, and now God is saying, "Move over and let me show you how
it's done."
Just a sample of what God is doing...
I don't want a revolution
I don't want some convolution
Of the pollution
Of God's original purpose
That comes around full circle
And I end up right where I started from
In some humdrum routine where the end
Can't justify the means
Because they're one in the same.
I don't want a revolution
I want a revival.
I want a revival and not some archival
Presentation of God's Word
That's been contained and preserved
Like some fantasy or fairy-tale
We've been riding too long on the coat-tail of disbelief
And I want a revival!
I will not hold my peace until salvation goes forth as a lamp that
burns! (Isaiah 62:1)
God's peace
