Under the leadership of Rev. Drayton, New Life grew from a mere eight members to nearly 100 dedicated voices. From his directorship sprang forth many dedicated assistant directors, including Ms. Stephanie Pugh, Rev. James Fields, Ms. JoAnn Carrington, Mr. William Durham, Mr. Andre Harrison, and Min. George Luster IV. In March, 1993, Rev. Drayton was succeeded by Rev. Jeronn C. Williams, then a student and now a graduate of Morehouse College and the Pastor of the New Life International Family Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
As a result of serving an awesome God, New Life has been blessed over the years to travel extensively up and down the East Coast of the United States. The list of cities includes Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando and West Palm Beach, Florida; Hartwell and Toccoa, Georgia; Columbia and Rock Hill, South Carolina; Newport News and Richmond, Virginia; Washington D.C.; Baltimore and Randallstown, Maryland; Jamacia Queens, New York; Hartford, Conneticut and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In addition to the East Coast, New Life has traveled to Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Texas, Louisiana, and California. New Life has also had the opportunity to fellowship with other college choirs including those of Bethune Cookman College, Clark-Atlanta University (Inspirational Voices of Faith), Duke University, Emory University (Voices of Inner Strength), Florida A&M University, Howard University, Tuskegee University, University of Akron, University of Michigan, University of Tennessee - Chattanooga, University of West Georgia, and Virginia Commonwealth University (Black Awakening Choir).
New Life has also been involved in workshops with various gospel recording artists such as Richard Smallwood, Fred Hammond, Darious Brooks, Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir, and Sounds of Blackness. In 1994, New Life had the privilege of performing with Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir in their live recording Live in Atlanta at Morehouse College. Along with other Atlanta University Center (AUC) voices, New Life can be heard in the background of the final track, “I Will Go in Jesus Name (Reprise).” In 1994, New Life was privileged to open for the Mississippi Mass Choir in Selma, Alabama. In 1998, New Life was honored to open for Yolanda Adams at the Morehouse/Spelman Homecoming Gospel Concert. Also in 1998, New Life recorded their first CD, "AUC Mass - Live In Atlanta", featuring special guest soloist Pastor Bruce Parham. In 2000, New Life was truly blessed when they opened for and performed with the Canton Spirituals. In 2002, New Life opened for the Morehouse SGA "Power Through The Spirit" program where Bishop Clarence McClendon brought the Word. Also in 2002, New Life was privileged to open for Michelle Williams (of Destiny's Child) at Spelman's Homecoming Gospel Concert. In 2007, New Life made their debut on national television as they sang the national anthem for the NASCAR Busch Series: Nicorette 300 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. God has truly been good to us!
From its founding to the present, the spirit of ministry has been deeply embedded into the hearts of the members of the New Life Inspirational Gospel Choir. Each year, God has added to the spiritual growth of the members, and has taken us to a new level in Him. We presently have members representing the entire Atlanta University Center, which includes Morehouse College, Spelman College,Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown College, and the Interdenominational Theological Seminary. We also have members from Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Emory University, Kennesaw State University, Atlanta Metropolitan College, Georgia Perimeter College, Luther Rice Seminary, and Devry University. Our ministry goal is to “MAGNIFY GOD, EDIFY THE BELIEVER, AND EVANGELIZE THE WORLD, BEGINNING AT HOME!”
